Filming Evaluation Day 3

Unfortunately, the people we relied on as actors continued to let us down. As it came close to our deadline we had to quickly find an alternative. We quickly came up with another storyboard and changed the reason why Nathan's brother had died. We as a group decided we was going to have Nathan's brother die because he had been abusing drugs. He had started taking drugs because of the pressure and influence of drugs. He then dies and Nathan feels responsible and is being blamed by his mum, Nathan then goes to the same place where his brother died and commits suicide. With this storyline we was still able to use the same footage we had recorded before we had to change the storyline. We was also able to keep the ending the same. This meant that there was not too much we had to adapt to. However, time was an issue, because the actors had kept letting us down we constantly kept rebooking and we lost days of filming. We have also changed the name of Nathan's character and kept his name as Nathan rather than Kevin and we kept Aaron's name as Aaron rather than Jason.

Another issue we was faced with was the timing in the day, Nathan's brother Aaron was at school so on the days we we're all free to film was weekdays and we had to wait for Aaron to come back from school and still hope it hadn't got dark. When it did eventually get dark we had to improvise and use the flash on our phones to provide some sort of lighting. As a group we were able to pull through this and looking back on the footage it was all useable.

Recce Of Nathan's House

Props Needed For Filming Day 3

We needed bags to contain the drug, which was the herbs as cannabis and flour as cocaine. We needed flowers and a candle for the remembrance of his brother. The fake blood is for the nose bleed and so is the tissues. The change of clothes was for the different 'days' we needed to film, to show they spent a lot of time together.

New Storyboard

This is the new storyboard and these are the new flashbacks and take the place of the old ones

Editing Film 2

Currently we are speaking as a team to decide the next time we will be filming for our final scene. We have begun to start editing with the footage we have got at the moment. We have been trying out effects other than black and white and colour. We have tried blurred effects to try and make it look like a flashback has taken place.

Editing Film 1

Today we began to edit but we had some difficulty due to the lack of footage we had, we had only have the footage from our first day of filming. Instead we labelled the shots to match our storyboard.

Filming Evaluation Day 2

Filming was successful for us on Monday, we was able to record all the footage needed. We was able to capture a range of shots needed and followed the storyboard, which made it easier for us to record. We recorded everything in order when shooting at Nathan's house, whereas when we recorded at the Olympic Park we recorded the middle at the beginning, the end in the middle and the start at the end. This made the day longer for us as we spent so much time going backwards and forwards.

Team Meeting For Filming Day 2

We have decided we are going to film on Monday 20th October. We have chosen this day to film as a significant character in our short film is Nathan's mum, luckily she is free on this day. It has been hard to get us all together at the same time to be able to film Nathan's mum.

Filming Evaluation Day 1

On October 11th our group had booked the cameras to do film at Nathan's house and in the alleyway near his house. We chose to do this due to the bad weather, luckily it didn't rain as heavy or as much as we expected. However, in our group there was miscommunication and we ended up filming in the Olympic Park instead as a back-up plan. Even though there was a last minute change our group successfully got all the footage we needed to film that scene. We took photos of our group in action, you can also see that it was raining and we used our umbrella.

We was originally going to film the scene in the alley way and in Nathan's house but we will just be filming in Nathan's house.

Planning pre-production

Currently we are working on our pre-production task. We are making our storyboard which includes our script as it doesn't have much speech. We have filled in our recces for all three locations. We are using six characters and are currently getting our talent release forms signed as one of our actors is under 16 we have got his mum to sign it. We believe we are ready to film and have signed our booking equipment form. Once we have finished our storyboard we will fill in our call sheets.

Call Sheets

We have finished our storyboard so we are now able to fill out our Call Sheet. This gives us a summary of the pages we need to look at on our storyboard to see what scenes need to be filmed on what set at the location. It is also acts like a checklist so we know what props and equipment such as fake blood and the tripod. The call sheet allows us to carry out our filming task in an organised way.

Pre-production: storyboard
